Never before in my life have I celebrated merdeka. Now that I'm in university, I could. Its was fun with all the performances and being able to celebrate with friends. During the whole event, me and a few others were given a task. We were asked to interview the people who came for the celebration. AR Najib's Assignment

3B : My Black Box

This "myblackbox" assignment was given during the convocation period. I was so busy with Jazz Band and all, so I had to this one last minute. Somehow I found out that its a little advantageous when doing an assignment last minute. Yea I know it's bad, but I could ask those who've done it and get a better idea of what the assignment's all about.

But just to be safe, I did my own research on the topic, "black box" on google and wikipedia and what not, and I think I had the perfect idea about what to do with this assignment. I simply combined two of my understandings of the word black box and started my sketches.

Well the first one was : In philosophy and psychology, the school of behaviorism sees the human mind as the black box.

So i thought of sketching what was on my mind at that time which involves good memories, feelings and even words or phrases. Anything actually that came to my mind.

My first understanding was more of an abstract kinda definition. Then i thought of taking the word box literally and sketched a box. Though i didn't go too straightforward and made a balck coloured box. i gave a little aesthetic touch to it and gave it a litlle orange-brownish colour to it.

And there you go.

Assalamualaikum and Hi....

This assignment is actually for RAG132.

I'm from Penang so I guess this particular structure is suitable for this assignment. So lets get to what I'm suppose to do.

Intention : The purpose this bridge was build was so that people could travel from the island to the main land and vice versa.

Act : the act would be the driving or the travelling done via the bridge.

Product : the destinations which are either island or the main land would be the product of the act.

Actors : The actors would simply be the civilians, working people or travellers.

Rules : Theres three lanes from each side going to the other. Also, to go through from the main land, the 'actors' mentioned above have to pay the toll first.

Place : The bridge is located on the sea between the Penang Island and the main land, Seberang Perai.

"The 101 Mask"

Assalamualaikum and Hi.....

We had to make not one, but two papier mache masks. One with our own full face and colour, and the other is black and white with emotion. here are the process of creating them...

First step : placing the plastic wrapper on the face.

Wtih the help of friends, paste the paper on using home-made glue :- tapioca starch and water

Waiting it to dry. Would've been faster if we had a hairdryer.

"Me, My Thoughts and I"

Assalamualaikum and Hi....

First "unvirtual" assignment. We were given a USM invention to study and then apply it to the PONDOK. Mine was "TNT - As a Novel Photocatalyzer".

At first i had no idea what that is. so i did a little study on the article, searched the meaning through wikipedia and used a little help from google. After understanding a little if not much about the invention, i started to think of how to incorporate it with the PONDOK.

Some of the ideas are :- applying it to the wall of the exterior and interior of the PONDOK, using to clean and deodorize the air and also to purify the water.

And when the ideas were planned and the sketches were done, i arranged them on my A2 board and it was done.

Submitted it on time and i'm all good.

"What I Heard"

Assalamualaikum and hi...

First day of class and we already got our first assignment. The subject of this assignment is "What I Heard". Alot of things were said today in said not just by the lecturer but also by other studiomasters and my fellow course mates. Topics discussed includes a bit about the course, a bit about apex, the university expectations and introductions studiomasters and some of my course mates.

At first I heard the lecturer welcomed us to USM and to the course. Some of us introduce themselves when called by the lecturer. Then the lecturer started the slide show and explain to us abit about APEX and what the University expect of us.

Next, we were thought about APEX Production. The lecturer explained what production was, first. It consist of three elements :

1. Intention :- this is done by actors
2. Act :- this is done with rules
3. Product :- this must be taken at a place

If the three above are the elements of production, then the APEX production are the same but with the word APEX at the front which makes : APEX Intention, APEX Act, and APEX Product.

To put it simple, the Lecturer, Mr. Wan Burhanuddin introduced "3P" :

1. People :- this includes students, studiomasters, USM community, Penangites, et al.
2. Principles
3. Place

Later on we were introduced to some of our studiomasters. Some of the names I

remembered are Mr. Mazran Ismail and Ar. Mohd Najib from Architecture, Dr. Ilias Said from

Construction Management, and Mr. Rushizal Roosli from Planning.

At the end of the class we were told to do our first assignment which is what I'm

doing right now.

I think this was "What I Heard" from our first lecture.
